Good Boy, Caleb!

Caleb has come along way since his has been here. He will now sit for a treat, comes when called. Makes sounds from his crate if he needs to go outside, barks to come in. Truly enjoys just sitting on the back deck "pointing" at the birds.

Caleb Update!

Caleb has settled in nicely in foster care. His foster mom reports: "He gets along great with other dogs, but needs some one on one training and lots of attention. He does well with cats.

It was so hot yesterday, Caleb finally ventured into the dog pool, he just laid for a bit and then started the 'paw play' with the water. He enjoys being outside and plays great with my other dogs."

I've made a journey...

Hi, I'm Caleb---I had an exciting time the other day, as I went on a doggy transport.
All kinds of nice people let me ride in their cars.
At the end there was a nice lady waiting for me that told me that she's going to be my foster mommy while I'm waiting to find my new home.

I think she likes me...here's what she told other people about me: Caleb is doing great. Enjoys a bath without fuss. Loves to be outside and run. He is very high energy but so lovable. Likes to chase the ball, but not sure what to do with it once he gets it...pretty funny to watch...he plays like a cat. He likes his crate. Is a good barking watch dog. Did well with age 6 and up. Rides well in the car. LOVES FRENCH FRIES

Caleb the tail-wagger-happy boy

An early report from Caleb's temporary foster home: We're having "camera issues" again. sigh . . . Working on it. Caleb is getting his 2nd bath tonight. Since I think he had never had a bath before coming here, you can imagine how dingy he was, and actually still is. But he's a very good boy.
Is he feeling better? You betcha! He's a wonderful, affectionate, expressive dog. He and Butter (my 6 y.o. yellow Lab X Red Bone Hound) are best buds. They hang out for hours together outside. He's a real tail wagger too.
He had obviously been an outdoor dog before he came here. Knew what a doghouse was, but not a dog biscuit. That was quickly remedied. And he's doing great on not lifting the old leg in the house too. He started to lift that hind paw a couple of times and I said, "Caleb, No!" and he caught on really fast.

He really has a beautiful temperament, very sweet. Not very interested in the cat either. I suspect he's seen them before.

Caleb SAFE at last!

Caleb had some guardian angels watching over him. He found himself at a shelter at a time when all English Setter rescues were extremely full and nobody could take him in immediately. A kind lady sponsored his vetting at the shelter, so that he had more time to find an adopter. However, the time this bought him was running out AGAIN when a wonderful IBR volunteer stepped in to foster him. She even broke down on the way from the shelter when getting him, but this boy is SAFE and now looking for his special forever family.

Foster mom Betsy reported:
Here's CALEB. The first 2 shots are right after his bath yesterday. I washed him in the small front kennel that's paved in gravel. It's great for things like DOG BATHS!

Then I popped him in there this a.m. while I fixed his breakfast, and so the third photo is Caleb, once again all wet (it was pouring) and he's stuck where he tried to get out.

I've repaired the gate, and this afternoon I kept a really close eye on him from the house AND had Blossom out with him, and he ignored the gate. ( I suspect getting stuck was one of those things that carried it's own negative reinforcement, but I won't take any chances.)
